F is for Festive

 Why don't you...wear a dress over pants?

 Or spray old. black heels with pink glitter spray?

 

Make a sequin belt for $7?

 Add a faux fur scarf over basic black?

Or mix patterns and add a ribbon bow tie?

Last week I got the chance to guest post over at Krista's blog, Nineteen 93 for her 25 letters of Christmas project she has going on. I chose F for Festive. Clever, right? 

Festive for me as a mom of two and having an (unfortunately) limited budget means using what I have and jazzing it up with simple, inexpensive accessories or DIY projects. Every single outfit above was pulled from my closet on short notice with the intention of going somewhere fun. I love taking a simple black dress and adding glitter heels or a sparkly belt. I honestly think that it is the details that people remember the most and not how much the dress cost. 

One thing I bought recently was this faux fur eternity scarf from Target. It adds a fun element to a festive 'going out" outfit and can be worn belted at the waist or wound around the neck.

I also love mixing unexpected patterns (hearts and leopard!) Throw on some red lipstick, carry a little clutch and you are as festive as it gets without breaking out a Christmas sweater:)
