Hair Do.

Whenever my hair is unmanageable (i.e. hasn't been washed in three days or more) I slick it back and either do a topknot (reference yesterday's post!) or I slick it back and wear my fake ponytail. I bought this hairpiece at Ulta awhile ago. It was mildly expensive, about $50 or so, but worth every penny. It clips into my existing ponytail and has a piece that you wrap around to hide the part where it attaches. It matches my hair pretty good and just makes my thin, sad ponytail look lush and long. It is a major time saver and lets me go another day or so without washing/blowdrying, etc...

P.S. My college girls think I am CRAZY for having my fake hair, but I told them I would prove them wrong! What do you think, would you wear fake hair/ponytails?

Hi/Lo

So lately I have been waking up and my hair looks awful. Like a cross between straw and fine baby chick fluff. The ends are a mess and my color is just...blah. I just got a trim, so I am wondering what is wrong. Hmm. I am debating getting some highlights, maybe some blond-ish ombre highlights on the ends to add some interest. Because if I don't do something soon I will have my hair up in this bun EVERYDAY. Any suggestions for hair for me that doesn't involve cutting it? I feel more ME with it long. Leave me a comment and let me know! I need heeeeeellllllpppppppp.
P.S Entire outfit from Target. Not like I shop there or anything:)

What I would wear....for date night!

Okay, so usually my "What would I wear" series is about dressing for events I wish/want to/ have no reason to dress up for. Not this time! My husband and I don't get to go out that often, so when my mom took the kids for a surprise overnight we jumped at the chance. We spent the afternoon watching tv, napping and relaxing on a Sunday afternoon...something we haven't done in so long. It was so nice to just be lazy and recharge. We went to dinner at our favorite sushi place down the road and I threw on this outfit. It was probably more dressy than I needed to be, but I do love the chance to wear fun heels and go out. We had amazing food and just got to talk. I love moments like that. It is nice to be just us sometimes, and not mommy and daddy. Reminds me what makes "us" so special.

Tell me: What is your favorite outfit/item to wear on a date?
Marshall's jacket, Target tank, Old Navy jeans, Steve Madden heels, F21 jewelry.

Color Blocking.

I saw a picture of Jessica Alba last week in Us Weekly wearing blue pants and a gorgeous Kelly green winter coat. I tried to recreate the look with clothes I own. My husband calls these my "80's spandex workout pants." He's not a fan of the colored skinny jean trend, but I still feel pretty sassy in them! I would love to pair this outfit with some hot pink high heels and a dressier top for a dinner date or a night on the town...someday if I ever get out of the house past 6pm:)

The wind is not my friend.

Today was hot and muggy and super windy. I won't mention how many times my hat blew off in my photo session today (reference the second photo with the mad face that the camera caught!) It also blew my camera off the ladder I use to prop the camera off. Your welcome for not adding the 8 pics of the grass and bare fence photos...
I have a classy operation here, with my ghetto camera and ladder. I am stalking nicer cameras online and not so subtly hinting to my husband how bad I want a new one. I'm sure he is falling for my hints, any day now we will grow a money tree and buy one.
Anyway, it is Friday, which means the hubby will be home and the kids can drive us equally as crazy:) Have a great weekend!

Which one?

I got dressed quick today and put on the bottom outfit first. It was okay and felt good, the flats make it a good option for hanging with my kids. After taking some pics I found that it didn't look as good as I thought (something I find almost daily after taking self photos!) and changed my shorts and shoes. What do you think?
P.S My shirt is a really pretty mint green, but doesn't show in pictures. Darn it.

It twiiiiirls!

Today I brought back my inner ten year old and wore a skirt that twirls when I spin around (and clearly I did spin around a lot based on these photos!) It was a little muggy today and pretty warm in the afternoon after a chilly start. This skirt is soft and easy and looks cute with flat, jeweled sandals and a simple tank top. It reminds me of when I was little and would only wear skirts that twirled. Nothing else was acceptable:) Now I am getting my payback with a daughter who is just as opinionated as I used to be.
Marshall's jacket, Target tank, skirt and earring are gifted.

Molly Amelia

Dear Molly,
Today is your Fourth birthday and I can't believe how fast time has gone by. I remember you being born like it was yesterday...three weeks early and so small! I have enjoyed every second since you arrived. Having you has made me complete. I always wanted to be a mom, it didn't matter what else I accomplished as long as I had you. You are more fun than I could have dreamed. You are smart, witty, sassy, independent, outgoing and make me laugh! I love you, my little curly haired princess, more than you will ever know.
Love, Mom

What I would wear...on a date.

Seeing as we have to little people running our house, the hubby amd I don't get to go on many dates. When we do get out we relish actually having uninterrupted conversations, great food, and...talking about the kids all night:) This is something I would wear on a date: a fun maxi dress, easy cotton blazer and some fun jewelry. And on a good day I may even change out my "mom bag" for a fun clutch.
Marshall's jacket, Charlotte Russe dress and necklace, Coach purse.

What I would wear....to work.

I am a stay at mom now and have not worked outside the home in several years. Which means I am in jeans and flats (or yoga pants...) most of the time. I did once leave the house everyday in professional, real, honest to goodness work clothes (gasp!) and used to love dressing up. I wanted to use what I have in my closet now and apply it to different situations. Today I am answering the question: what would I wear to work? I taught Kindergarten and Second Grade and did dress like this on a daily basis for that job. I used a simple black dress and belted a cardigan over it. A fun, sparkly necklace, bright bag and nude pumps accent the look. I remember my students used to love my fun jewelry and shoes and would comment on my clothes a lot. Oh, the love of five and six year olds is so easy to attain:)
