Hair (Day 15.)

I went and got my hair trimmed today and ended up cutting off about 4 inches of pure yuckiness off the bottom. It feels soooo much better, but weird to be shorter than I am used to. Now that that is done, I have been thinking of messing with my haircolor for awhile. I currently use Feria (#40) to cover the ridiculous amount of grey's popping up on my head. I also just discovered Clairol Root Touch Up for those times between the "whole head color process" when the grey hair is annoyingly staring at me in my rear view mirror.
I have been going back and forth on two different color options. I love the ombre highlighting (darker on top, lighter on bottom look: Rachel Bilson and Jessica Biel have good examples of this look.) Another thing that I was thinking was red. Yes, red! I saw an ad in a magazine (probably Us Weekly, my weekly guilty pleasure) that had this 28 day, non permament hair color. I have always wanted to try red and figured a 28 day commitment wouldn't be too bad. If I hate it, then I can just wash it right out. My hair has a lot of red in it naturally, so it is not too much of a stretch.
What do YOU think I should do? Help this non commital girl make a decision! Stay brown, go highlighted ombre, or jump into the deep end and do red?

Beach (Day 14.)

I have a secret. I wore this outfit for about 20 minutes today. See, I brought my kids to the beach this morning, and it was fabulous. Perfect weather, some un- perfect sandcastles, and jumping the waves with my daughter (and laughing when they kept knocking her over!) By the time we came home, showered and layed down for some quiet time the day was almost over. I contemplated skipping today's post, but wanted to be consistent (yay for not procrastinating!) Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go change back into my yoga pants...

Forever 21 tee, skirt and bracelet; Target wedges.

Short Suit (Day 13.)

You know what I have been feeling the last couple of days? Complete contentment. I'll look around and my house looks pretty with it's 6 month long makeover alomost done, my hubby is helping me cook dinner and my kids are playing in the backyard together (for 45 minutes without needing me, not once!) The weather is amazing right now, like the perfect summer day. I just look around and I'm happy.
Now don't get me wrong, I have really crappy moments, too. And moments when I just want to head right back to bed. But right now, right this moment in time, I am not sure there is anyone else luckier than me. Great husband, great kids, great family and a blog that makes me really happy, too. Life. Is. Good.

Awkward (Day 12.)

The title of this post is refrencing my amazing modeling skills. As you can see, my posing is sometimes (mostly) very....interesting. For every four or so photos I post there are about 50 or 60 I didn't post. Usually my face is making a strange expression, or my hands look like alien hands, or I am facing the wrong direction. This is often due to the ten continuous shot function on my self timer that allows me to do really weird things in my backyard/front porch so I can get a cool-ish movement shot. My daughter calls it, "doing stylish things."
My favorite part is when my dad calls me every week and gives me modeling advice, such as "stop letting your arms hang down like a corpse." Valid advice, I know, and all from a guy who hasn't changed his look since 1978 (love you, Dad!)
So, thanks to my family and friends, who care about me and my little fashion blog, and continue to look at it despite my meager modeling ability:) Doing this blog gives me a renewed sense of purpose/creativity and brings me joy every single day.

Old Navy blouse and jeans, Target shoes, vintage charm bracelet.

Girls Night Out.

Five friends meet out at a restaurant. We all have cute little purses (because we can), and order two for one happy hour drinks (because we can) and enjoy appetizers and endless laughs and conversations (because we can.) There is something about a night out away from the children and husbands. We dress up a little more, we talk about innapropriate things, we give advice on everything under the sun. And we just sit for three hours. It sooths the soul, I tell ya, And makes you thank your lucky stars for finding good friends no matter where you move.

I want the polka dot ones (surprise!) Victoria's Secret, Colin Stuart. And possibly even the red ones, too:)

Hot dot underwire bikini, J Crew.

Since I am in a shopping hiatus due to my 30 for 30 challenge, I thought I would put a list together of the things I WANT to buy (and just may when all is said and done!) So, looking at this list I discovered that if anyone, anywhere puts a polka dot pattern on a piece of clothing or accessory then I will want it. I am a polka dot junkie and I am okay with it.

Spring has sprung.

It is officially Spring now and my kids and I are enjoying the weather while it is warm, but not sweltering and humid. That means we (they!) run naked through sprinklers, climb trees, and ride bikes in endless circles in the driveway. The sunroof and windows are open, the sun is up later and the park is only a short walk away. It is so fun to see the world through a child's eyes. Everything is new, everything is "so cool, mom", everything is exciting again because I am seeing it through their eyes. Childhood and all it's wonders are back as long as I have little ones to share the world with.

P.S I am not one for posting naked kids photos, but little naked toddler bums running through a sprinkler was just too hard to resist:)

Stylemint tee, Target jeans (similar) and sandals, Forever 21 jewelry (similar), Fossil Watch (similar.)

Stripes and Spots.

You know what I wish? I keep seeing that these blog girls I follow (stalk daily) have AMAZING houses that look exactly like them. Some examples here and here. Everything looks like it came out of a magazine. And they are all younger than me. When I was their age (oh boy, this means I am officially old since I uttered that phrase!) I had rented furniture in a ghetto apartment in Pensacola, Florida. My house and furniture are much better now, but not amazing. Tell me how, how do these girls have such a great sense of style in all areas of their lives and I am 31 and still figuring out what I like?

Forever 21 shirt and bracelet (similar), QVC watch (similar), Target pants and shoes.

When it rains, it pours.

Today was one of those days. It was one of those days where you wish you could head back in bed, pull the covers over your face, and hibernate. I woke up cranky, irritable and had no patience inside me for two small children. These children (monsters) decided to take this and run...straight through my sanity. I've discovered that parenthood comes with a lot of days like this. Where you struggle to find joy in the little moments and halfheartedly hope that they are too little to remember any of this. I yelled, I closed my eyes and counted to ten, and I felt overwhelmed.

On a good note, I have also learned in my four short years of being a mom that tomorrow is another day, and often a better day. And my two little monsters will turn back into the good kids that they usually are. And maybe this mama will turn back into the nice mommy I usually am as well. Until then there is always bedtime to look forward to, and a little quiet to soothe my frazzled mind.

TJ Maxx blouse, Wal Mart scarf (worn as headband), J Crew shorts, Target flats.

Basic black, with a twist.

I don't know about you, but I REALLY like wearing all black. It's easy, it always matches, and it's slimming (something I appreciate after eating four pounds of mexican cheese dip!) Seeing as I have this little fashion blog, I wanted to jazz up my all black outfit with some accessories. A belt and a scarf added on seemed fun and different, part of the fun of having limited outfits during my challeneg is reinventing my basics. What do you think, do you throw on colorful things to basic black/go to outfits?

Marshall's top and scarf, Old Navy skinny jeans, Target sandals (similar), Forever 21 belt (came with a skirt I bought), and my Grammie Pouliot's vintage charm bracelet.

Princess.

My niece is in town and seeing as she is almost four and my daughter is four it was determined that we must have a princess tea party. Everyone had to dress for the event. Mama's wore their wedding dresses (which fit slightly more snugly then when we got married) and we drank chocolate milk in china cups and ate sandwiches and cupcakes. Little girls smiled, one little boy wore only underwear, and a good time was had by all.
