my favorite things (mama style)

Funny enough, this outfit contains every piece of my favorite clothing items at the moment. I wear at least one of these on an (almost) daily basis. What can I say? I am a true creature of habit. Or lazy, but let's pretend otherwise, okay?

As a mom (which is my defining role nowadays) I need to be comfortable. I just can't escort two littles around teetering on heels or risking indecent exposure when they decide to pull on my shirt for attention. Below are my favorite pieces broken down for ya.

1) This yummy and soft cardigan I bought at Target last Fall and it is one of my favorite things to spice an outfit up. Wearing all black? Pop the mustard cardi on. This concept also works with my mustard colored beanie and various jewelry items. This is the best color to make an outfit look cooler than it is. I promise if you go out and buy something mustard you will wear it every day. Can I write the word mustard again?  Okay, done.

2) My second favorite piece that you may recognize from my Instagram feed is this star tee. I love the graphic black and white pattern. It is soft and slouchy and looks great with skirts and jeans. Or everything. I bought mine on sale at Madewell and it is no longer available, but a similar shirt can be found here, here and here. What makes a great go-to item for me is something with a simple shape, but has a fun detail that makes it stand out on its own. After my closet purge I found that I am really drawn to clothing with black and white patterns or graphics on it. Hence the outfit you see above. 

3) The last item I simple adore is this stretchy maxi skirt. I have this one and a gray one (and wish I had one in black) and I wear it all the time. For some reason I instantly feel more pulled together and comfortable, a fave combo for me (everyone?) This skirt tends to reappear at Target every Spring and Summer. You can find similar options here (love this color!) and here. I'm hoping they come back this year as I need some more. Its an addiction. A maxi skirt addiction. Yes, they exist.
